We are up and ready at 6:15 am for the early morning tour with Yuri and Primo. It's very quiet. There is a $10.00 per person fee for Tortuguero National Park. We saw monkeys, heron, caiman, turtle, boa, iguana, blue morpho butterfly, yellow billed toucan, white egret.
Back for breakfast at 9:00 am. Yummy pancakes, scrambled eggs with onion and gallo pinto, wheat toast. Fresh fruit-pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe, guava. Juice and coffee. Time to explore the grounds.
Back at the lodge for lunch at 1:00 pm. There's steak, rice with vegetables, cold pasta/shells. Juice, water....... Coconut flakes in chocolate honey sauce. We decide to spend the afternoon at the pool where we refresh and relax.
At 5:30 pm we have been told to be at the pool area for something special. Yuri shows a group of us the famous rana de ojos rojos/red eyed/gaudy leaf frog that is symbolic of Costa Rica. Vivid colors.
Dinner is chicken, carrots and cauliflower, small skin on boiled potatoes. Dessert is flan. While we have been here at Laguna Lodge the food has been outstanding. Delicious.
