3/24/2009 Ocotal, Ocotal Beach Resort scuba diving, pool, drinks at Lizard Lounge, dinner at Papagayo Seafood

We are up and it's 6:30 am.  Richard needs to meet at the dive shop for his scuba diving trip today.  Buffet breakfast.  I have donut, ham, bacon, fruit, juice, and coffee.  A bird-think it was a white-throated magpie jay-stole a piece of bacon off my plate!  We dropped off some laundry.  The bay is looking pretty.

Head to the Dive Shop.  Richard is going with 6 other divers to Play Pen and Tortuga.  Bought a T shirt at the dive shop for $14.00 USD.  Then we take a shuttle down to the beach area where the dive boats are.  The beach is quite nice.  Lots of dive boats.  I stay to watch Richard get on a transfer boat. This boat takes the divers out to where the dive boats are anchored.  Heinar is with them and helps them onto the dive boat.  Then they are off to dive!

Love the back!

I take the shuttle back to where the larger pool is and spend some time here. I also take some time to wander around the resort.  There's a small exercise room.  The grounds are so pretty with lots of flowers.

I'm on the beach when the dive boat returns.  Richard said he enjoyed himself.  At Play Pen the water temperature was 72˚F,  maximum depth 85' average depth 60', 2 safety stops, total bottom time 47 minutes.  He saw tiger snake, reef eel, spotted bat fish, long tail ray, torpedo ray.  Surface interval of 45 minutes.  His second dive was at Tortuga/turtle.  Water temp was 72˚F, max depth 80' average depth 50', 2 safety stops, total bottom time 37 minutes.  He saw orangeade trigger, rays, tiger eel.  He brings his dive gear up to our room to rinse out.  Drive over to Father Rooster which is so close to our resort for drinks.  Back at the resort we relax at the larger pool for a bit and then decide we like the pool by our room even though it's smaller.

Our laundry has been delivered to our room.  Cost 6954.20 colones/$11.99 USD.  Shower, get dressed.  We drive into Coco town again and we're hoping we have better luck than we did yesterday.  Stop at the Lizard Lounge for drinks.  Imperial beer and kaluha.  Then it's Papagayo Seafood for dinner.  I have sea bass veracruz with rice and steamed broccoli/carrots/cauliflower/squash.  Richard has the tuna with roasted garlic.  It comes with rice and the same vegetables.  Water to drink.  Cost without tip was 15006.00 colones/$28.31 USD.

Returning to our room we decide to go to "our" pool.  No one is there.  It's dark.  The water is warm.  Lots of stars in the sky.  Very peaceful.  Too bad the hot tub was turned off.

A nice lazy day.  Tomorrow we leave and go to Samara
